The proposition has created a social media frenzy and the local authorities claim to have gotten thousands of enquires from all over the world. To be eligible for the payout you need to be under 45 years of age and must buy or build a permanent place of residence and live there.

If you decide to move out of Albinen before 10 years you’re going to have to say goodbye to the money. The language spoken here is German (Schweizerdeutsch) different for German. So getting by would be difficult if you don’t speak the language.
