5 Budget Travel Hacks That We All Kinda Need

Travelling is an essential part of life and we are not going to let money come in the way of us and the beautiful waterfalls. From booking your tickets in the incognito mode to making your own breakfast, here are 5 budget travel hacks that we all need.

1. Be Flexible With Your Plan

One of the major reason why trips go over budget is because the plan wasn’t flexible in the first place. We understand that this can be difficult with fewer paid leaves or with college deadlines, however it could save you a lot of money on your flight tickets and on your stay. Be open to see the city life of New York and not the beaches of Hawaii if the tickets to the former are cheaper than to the latter. Keep your alerts for cheaper flight tickets always on, you never know which sale is coming along your way.

2.  Try Avoiding Hotels

Hotels can be a real curse on your budget when you’re travelling, hence resort to staying with friends and families or in academic housing/dorm rooms. Dorm rooms may not be as comfortable as those hotel rooms but you can have an experience of a lifetime by chilling and getting to know the stories of the students/other travelers. Try keeping your hotels as your last resort.

3. Take Public Transport

Buses, trains and metros can be a real bone when you are trying to stay on a budget. If you are looking to save time and money then your best chances are the trains and metros. It’s better to spend $25 on a meal at Shake Shack than to spend it on a cab in the crazy New York traffic. Just hop on the subway and get going! In fact taking the public transport can be an experience in itself.

4. Smart Booking

Wanting to save money on your bookings? Then always use the incognito mode on your browser to book your tickets and amenities. Apparently, the cookies saved on your browser track the number of times you visit the website and hence most of the times you are shown expensive price tickets. Also keep in mind to book your tickets at a time (late at night) when the prices are not surging. Make sure to book a round trip, it is way cheaper than booking two one sided tickets.

Always make your bookings after a thorough research of all the plans available on the web.

5. Make your own Breakfast

A homemade banana pancake never hurt nobody. Book a place to stay which has a kitchen, this will help you to save up hundreds. What would you prefer: going to a restaurant and having greasy croissants for family breakfast or starting your day with healthy homemade omelettes? Going on a trip means indulging on all the greasy delicacies of the state, so the least you could do is have one healthy self cooked meal in the day. This will result in you saving up on your money and consuming something healthy at the same time.

Also when you’re heading out don’t forget to carry a bottle water with you, the prices of water bottles at tourist spots are ridiculous.
