In the month of August, Parsis celebrate their arrival in India and the acceptance of their new homeland. Parsi New Year, also known as Jamshedi Navroz is on August 17th this year and we couldn’t be more excited! Not because of anything else but for the unconditional love towards Parsi meals. Who minds digging into some Berry Pulao and dhanshak on this auspicious occasion? Especially when there are five restaurants in Mumbai hosting a Parsi Food Festival. Take a look!

1. Jeon, Hotel Sea Princess, Juhu

This restaurant in Juhu is serving a hearty Parsi fare till the 20th of August. Hop on a delightful ride for your taste buds as you devour classic Parsi favourites – chicken farcha, dhansak, laganu custard among others. Ring in the Parsi New Year with these delectable traditional treats straight from a Parsi kitchen. Unwind here with your favourite food and an uninterrupted view of the waters.

2. SodaBottleOpenerWala, Mumbai & Delhi

SodaBottleOpenerWala is a tribute to the dying legacy of a Bombay Irani Café, bringing with it typical Parsi cuisine and some Irani specialties. This quintessential Irani café brings to you Bhonu or the Parsi feast on 17thAugust 2017 as a part of the Parsi New Year celebrations.

The Non-vegetarian Bhonu (₹ 700++) comprises of a sweet and sour Gajar Nu Achar, Saria-the Parsipapad, a classic Salad Shirazi, MithuDahi, Chutney eeda na pattice or egg pattice, Fish Kebab, Masala ni dal made the authentic Parsi way, feasty Mutton pulav, Kachumbar, Jardaloo chicken cooked with apricots, a recipe passed down with every generation of a Parsi household and Rotli or Roti made the Parsi way. There is also a Vegetarian Bhonu available at ₹ 600 plus taxes.

3. Pondicherry Cafe, Sofitel Mumbai BKC

Enjoy myriad flavours of the Parsi culture through a sumptuous feast and sample some signature traditional dishes put together to make the Parsi New Year meal a delightful one. Pondicherry Cafe at Sofitel brings to you an amazing lunch and dinner buffet.  You must try their Patrani Machi, they claim it’s one of their bests. Don’t worry if you are too caught up on the new year day itself, the restaurant is hosting the festival till the 27th of this month.

4. Jimmy Boy, Horniman Circle, Fort

Jimmy Boy, an old-school restaurant also serves delicious lip smacking Parsi meals. For this Navroz, they have Navroz Special Lagan Bhonu, which is a  three-course Lagan Nu Bhonu (or Wedding Meal). The meal includes dishes like Patra Ni Machchi/Saas, Salli Murgi/Gosht and Lagan Nu Custard/Kulfi.

5. Dinshaw’s Express Cafe, Oshiwara

The new set menu ‘Bawa nu Bhonu’ at Dinshaw’s Express Cafe in Oshiwara will leave your tummy and heart so full. The vegetarians can enjoy Potato Pattice, Mushroom Salli, Veg Dhansak with Rice while for the non-vegetarians there is Kheema nu Pattice, Chicken Farcha, Chicken Dhansak with Rice and Patra nu Machchi.of-course. For desserts, they have the authentic Pallonji’s Soda and Parsi Kulfi.
