India Is All Set To Get Its First Underwater Bullet Train

India’s first ever underwater bullet train that travels Ahmedabad to Mumbai, will take you underwater for a full 7 km between Thane Creek and Virar. 

What Is It?

We’ve all heard about the new bullet train that will soon start between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The speed is going to be a whopping 349km/h making you reach from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in just 3 hours. That’s less than half the time taken by the fastest Duronto express currently running in India. But what you might not know is that it also travels underwater for the stretch of Thane Creek up till Virar. Yes, before you thought the excitement of the bullet train was over, you can also experience the beautiful journey under water.

To protect the abundance of flora in that region, the construction of the bullet train has been carried out underwater. It was the perfect decision to make because it was protect the vegetation as well as give a wonderful experience to the masses of traveling in a bullet train.

What Else?

The construction for this bullet train started last month and it is estimated to be done by mid 2022. It shall be launched on the day India’s completes its 75th year of independence. Prime Minister Modi plans to expand the railroad lines for bullet trains up to 6 in the country but depending on how well this project goes.

The bullet train will stop at 12 stations from the stretch of – Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati.
Approx cost for ticket: ₹3000 per person for AC class
