What Do We Know?

To save time, an inland water transport system is being developed in Mumbai through the Thane creek and the coastal network. The project report for the first phase of construction for this project has already been submitted to the central government and approval is expected soon.

This will be the easiest and cheapest mode of transport in all of Mumbai as passengers will have to pay only ₹29 for travelling 47 kilometers. If this phase is successful, the central government will be expanding the project to include cities like Goa and more that can be connected through waterways.

Another fact – Not just inexpensive and easy, this project will utilize environment friendly biofuel for the water transport.
