It comes as no surprise to us that the techies preferred mode of commute is the Namma Metro, since the Byappanahalli metro station has an incredible footfall of 28,300 passengers.

What Is It?

Namma Metrohas registered a whopping 12-times increase in daily ridership, Byappanahalli metro station with an incredible footfall of 28,300 passengers has emerged as the busiest Metro hub in the city, overtaking Kempegowda Majestic station (27,500). Indiranagar (17,700), Yelachenahalli (16,000) and MG Road (14,900) are the other stations in the top five in terms of daily footfall. Baiyappanahalli is an unsurprising winner mainly because of the following three reasons: its proximity to IT hubs in Whitefield, ITPL and Bellandur, its proximity to a railway station, and it’s a terminal. However, after getting off from the metros the folks prefer to travel by private vehicles and taxis than by BMTC’s buses, which results in congestion on Old Madras Road. Hence, the general public demands for a foot over-bridge in front of Byappanahalli station on Old Madras Road, to ensure pedestrians cross safely.
