The flowers are seen in full bloom across the Western Ghats creating a stunning sight once in 12 years. The wait is finally over and the purple daze is back later this month. The season of the full bloom will last from July 2018 to October 2018.

The flower reproduces once in its lifetime and dies after flowering and it takes another 12 years for each seed to sprout again which grows up to 30 to 60 centimetres high. The neelakurinji species of flowers belong to the Strobilanthes, which is a tropical plant species found in Australia and Asia.
