Traveling to Dubai with medicines? You’ll now need prior approval to bring it into the country.

What Is It?

Ministry of Health has announced that all tourists and residents entering the UAE will now need the approval to bring medicines across the border. The permission process, however, is easy & free. All you have to do is fill in an online form & provide details like the passport or Emirates ID copy, doctor’s prescription & a few other verification details on the Ministry of Health & Prevention website. It is estimated that the approvals take one working day & the medicines are checked on entry by an inspector.

What Else?

Authorities will seize any medicine that does not meet the requirements, although there will be no punitive action taken.

Dr. Ameen Hussain Al Amiri, the assistant undersecretary for Licencing and Public Health Policy, told Gulf News: “In order to carry personal medication, both control, and regular medication, it is now mandatory for all passengers entering UAE to get this prior approval from the ministry to carry their prescription-based medication.”
