Want to catch a glimpse of Dubai’s heritage area? Head to Al Fahidi Street in Bur Dubai.
What Is It?
Rich in architecture, Bastakia Quarter or Al Fahidi Street in Bur Dubai will giveyou a glimpse of Dubai dating back to the 1900s. It is the oldest heritage site of the area and to get to this bazaar, you’ll have to hop on an Abra. Once on the Bur Dubai side, find yourself in narrow lanes filled with a lot of shops. The bazaar or ‘souq’ has electronics, perfumes, watches, spices and more! You’ll find hoards of merchants calling out to you as you walk past. Pick up some cheap cloth at the textile stores, as they sell by the yard. Buy decorative items like lamps to add a whimsical touch to your home. Stop by the sand artist who makes beautiful sand art pieces.
Walk past the wall murals and stop to take an Instagram worthy picture! Also, pause to take a look at the Dubai Fort Wall that houses the Dubai museum. Enjoy the beautiful skylines of old & new Dubai at Al Fahidi. Did you think that was all? You can also check out the spice merchants selling all kinds of local & Indian spices.
