Goa Fully Vaccinates 100% Of 18+ Population Against COVID-19

Goa has successfully vaccinated 100% of its 18+ population of 11.6 lakh. In fact, 100.58% have received both doses of the vaccine. It was due to its aggressive vaccination drive that it could avert the third wave despite the inflow of tourists. Goa is one of the few states that has completed this remarkable feat.

Bhubaneshwar Is The First Indian City To Vaccinate 100% Of Its Population

Bhubaneswar in Odisha is  the first city in India to achieve the target of full vaccination. The eligible population of Bhubaneswar has now been fully vaccinated with both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.  Calculating on the basis of the 2011 census, Bhubaneswar had targeted 18 lakh doses to be administered. In the city, around 18,37,586 doses of vaccine have been given to the population.

This Kashmir Hamlet Becomes The First Village In India To Vaccinate 100% Of Its Adult Population

With India’s dense population, it is definitely a challenge to vaccinate each and every citizen in a short time. It is not surprising that a lot of us in the cities are struggling to get a vaccination slot on Cowin. But a remote hamlet in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir is leading the way and showing the rest of the country how it’s done. It has become the first village in India to vaccinate all its adult population.

The Credit For Vaccination Goes To The Healthcare Workers

The credit for vaccinating the entire adult population undoubtedly goes to the healthcare workers whose strenuous helped in vaccinating the Weyan hamlet. The hamlet has an adult population of 362 and all of them are vaccinated. The village in J&K is located only 28 kilometres away from Bandipora district headquarters. As there is no motorable road, a distance of 18 kilometres has to be covered by foot to reach the hamlet.

Vaccinating The Entire Village Was Full Of Challenges

Despite the small population, vaccinating the entire village was not easy. The village consists of nomadic families who travel to higher reaches to grazing their livestock. And since there is no internet in the village, getting an appointment was also a task. The vaccination in the village was covered under ‘J&K model’, a 10-point strategy to vaccinate the entire eligible population at an accelerated pace.

J&K has done it despite the challenges. It is time for the rest of the country to follow suit.
