India’s First IKEA Shopping Centre To Come Up In Gurgaon; Cost Pegged At ₹3500 Crores

Global furniture and home accessories brand IKEA is all set to launch its first-ever shopping mall in India. Yes, you heard that right! Ingka Centres, part of the Ingka Group ( including IKEA Retail and Ingka Investments), has announced plans for launching this shopping centre in Gurgaon. A plot has already been purchased by IKEA in Gurgaon, next to New Delhi for opening the mall. The estimated cost of this mega project is approximately €400 million (₹3500 crores). IKEA Considers Delhi As One Of The Most Important Markets In India

According to a Live Mint report, Peter Betzel, CEO and CSO, IKEA India has said that India is an exciting country for the brand and added that Delhi NCR will be one of the ‘biggest and most important’ markets. Betzel said that the brand is happy to announce the launch of the IKEA store in Gurgaon in collaboration with Ingka Centres. The brand will bring affordable, stylish and sustainable home furnishing products for the people of Gurgaon and Delhi NCR.

The IKEA Mall Can Generate Over 2500 Employment Opportunities In Retail Sector

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has lauded IKEA’s plan of launching the Gurgaon mall. Lal said, “We welcome IKEA and Ingka Centres to the state of Haryana. This project will not only establish Gurugram as one of the newest shopping destinations but also provide employment in the region.” The mall aims to generate over 2500 jobs and aid in the growth of India’s organised retail. Reportedly, the construction for the same will start in early 2022.
