Indian Railways To Provide Vrat Ka Khaana To Passengers Fasting During Navratri

You don’t have to take the hassles of carrying meals from home anymore while on a long-distance train journey. Instead, you can have hot, freshly cooked meals served at your seats as Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has resumed its e-catering services from February 1, 2021. The national transporter takes the meal orders through the ‘Food on Track’ mobile application (available on Andriod’s Google Play and Apple’s App Store) or through the website. And now, since its Navratri time, IRCTC is allowing passengers to have Vrat Ka Khaana on the wheels.

Enjoy Vrat Ka Khana On Wheels From Railrestro

The official IRCTC e-catering partner, RailRestro has announced to offer Navratri special Vrat ka Khana on trains. Fasting is not easy when someone is on a long journey. So, to ensure that the one following Navratri’s fasting ritual gets the essential nourishment, Railways was launched this facility. The Navratri special thali in the e-catering menu includes Sabudana Khichdi, Sabudana Kheer, Kuttu Atta ki Puri, Roasted Makhana, Aloo ki Kadhi, Boiled Shakarkandi, and Singhare Atte Ka Halwa. The same can be ordered from the RailRestro website or app.

Order Food Through IRCTC E-Catering App Or Website

IRCTC resumed its e-catering service from February 1. Passengers can order their meals through the e-catering app or website. They need to open the ‘Food on Track’ app or the IRCTC e-catering website, provide details like PNR number, name of the train, seat number, etc. and choose from the meal options. The dishes served are fresh, delicious and affordable. Meanwhile, Indian Railways also introduced glass-domed coaches with rotatable seats for nature-loving travellers. 

The new app enables ‘Swipe, Select and Order’ facility and also allows users to view booked orders. Also, if the PNR gets cancelled, the order too will automatically get cancelled. Passengers can choose from varied food options like north Indian, south Indian, pizzas, desserts, etc. IRCTC has partnered with food chains like Zoop, Nirula’s and Domino’s for providing their service.

Order Biryanis, Pizzas, South Indian Dishes And More

The IRCTC e-catering website reads, “With this new online food delivery app passengers can order food on train by simply entering their travel details such as PNR number, Train name, seat/berth number and expect a delicious and quick food delivery on train. This effective system of online food delivery on train not only guarantees tasty food on your seat but also a revamped railway food menu making your journey a bit more fun. With multiple food aggregators on train stations, travellers can now enjoy an extensive set of meals ranging from north Indian, South Indian, Pizzas to mouthwatering Biryanis, butter chicken and Chinese delicacies etc.” Meanwhile, here are 7 Indian trains to experience  luxury on wheels:
