The recent incident of a Delhi-bound flight from Goa delaying by over 12 hours and then landing at the Mumbai Airport instead of Delhi has angered all the onboard passengers. After the flight landed, they collected food, sat on the tarmac beside the parked flight, and ate their dinner there. This caused a major stir on social media and in the aviation industry.

Several incidents violating the security norms occurred that night. The handbags of the passengers were not screened while they boarded the flight from the Mumbai airport. All the security measures were not also undertaken. The airline also violated the norms of aviation security by allowing the ramp-to-ramp transfer at the airport.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) imposed a hefty penalty of ₹1.2 crore on the IndiGo airline on Wednesday. The airline is directed to pay the fine “within 30 days of the receipt of the Demand Notice”.
