Restaurant Review: Turban Tales, Powai

Turban Tales is a typical urban Dhabba-themed restaurant located on the terrace of Mini Punjab, Powai and it offers a delectable blend of North Indian cuisine.

What Is It?

Powai folks, Turban Tales belongs to the Mini Punjab family and promises the same brand of hospitality. You get to experience gorgeous lake-side view as well. It has fun decor and soft, yellow lighting. The quirky interiors make it just the right thing to add a fun element to date night.

What’s in it?

The ambiance is quirky as there are painted matkas, stools made of kadhais, tables laid on tractor engines, low cots and overturned buckets suspended from the ceiling. The Khatiyas with large cushions are not the most comfortable seats but they do their bit to add to the theme. The restaurant only plays loud Punjabi music, which can be quite a disturbance if you are looking for a quiet conversation. Mini Punjab has tried to create a pind of Punjab in Powai.

What To Eat?

While Mini Punjab has always been known to serve the most delicious food at weddings, they have gone a bit experimental at Turban Tales. Something that Punjab Grill or Masala Library have been doing for years now. The presentation is unique and the portion sizes are small. We loved the Amritsari Lollipop, Prawns Koliwada and Bhatti Da Chicken. The Butter Chicken did disappoint us a little but the Chicken Biryani made up for the loss.

For desserts, Jalebi Rabdi with Atta Biscuits and Pan Ice Cream with Apple Muraba seem like quite a treat.

What To Drink?

One cannot miss out on their thick and huge Lassi. The Amarsar to Thailand, is a mocktail version with all the lovely Thai flavours. Also, try out the Thekke Da Bag with whisky, apricot liquor, pineapple juice and hibiscus syrup.
