Ahead of the much-awaited inauguration of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir, let's take a look at some interesting facts about the temple.

The Iconic Temple

• Built in the traditional Nagar style, the iconic mandir will measure 380 feet from East to West. It will be 161 feet in height and 250 feet in width. • With every floor measuring 20 feet in height, the 3-storeyed temple will have 44 gates and 392 pillars.

• A deity of Shri Ram Lalla Sarkar, the child form of Lord Shri Ram, will be installed in the main sanctum on the mandir's first floor.

• Devotees can enter inside from the East side. They will need to climb 32 stairs to go inside. To help the disabled and elderly ones, there will be the assistance of ramp and lift.

• Colour Pavilion, Dance Pavilion, Kirtan Pavilion, Prayer Pavilion, and Sabha Pavilion will be at the temple.

• Construction of the Ram Mandir is ongoing following Indian traditions and using indigenous technology. An interesting point to note here is that 70 per cent of the total area of 70 acres will be kept lush green.

• To avoid depending on external resources to a higher extent, the temple complex has a sewer treatment plant, an independent power station, and a water system in case of fire fighting.

• The temple premises have a Pilgrims Facility Center where people can keep their bags in separate lockers. Once operational, it is going to provide facilities for a capacity of 25,000.

• The premises of the temple area will also have washrooms, open taps, and more. 

• The mandir will also have a huge rectangular wall measuring 732 metres in length and 14 feet in width.

• The park will have 4 temples at the 4 corners. The temples will be dedicated to the Lord Suryadev, Maa Bhagwati, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Shiva. In addition to these, there will be each temple dedicated to Maa Annapurna and Lord Hanuman in the northern and southern arms respectively.
