In the circular issued, the Aviation Ministry declared Surat Airport an international airport with immediate effect. Here are 5 facts you should know about this airport.

1. New Terminal In December

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal of the Surat International Airport on December 18, 2023.

2. Air India Operates Int’l Flight

Air India became the first airline to operate from the international terminal of Surat International Airport in December 2023.

The Surat International Airport is spread across 770 acres of land.

4. Gujarat’s 2nd Busiest Airport

In terms of both aircraft movement and passenger traffic, Surat Airport comes after Ahmedabad.
