1. Haryana

Haryana was derived from 'Hari' which means Lord Krishna and 'Ana' means home. Hence it is known as the abode of Lord Krishna. 

2. Odisha

Odisha is taken from the word "Odra Desha" which was named because Odra people lived here. 

3. Tripura

Tripura is dervied from two Kokborok words 'Tui' which means water and 'Apra' which means near. 

4. Kashmir

Kashmir is derived from Sanskrit word 'Ka' which means water and "Kshameera' which means to dry.

Jammu is named after its founder 'Raja Jambu Lochan'. 

5. Nagaland

Nagaland is derived from the Burmese word 'Naka' which means people with pierced ears and nose. 

6. Kerala

Kerala is derived from the Malayalam word 'Kera' which means coconut and 'Alam' which means land.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra is derived from 'Maha' which means great and 'Rashtrika' which means a dynasty of chiefs who ruled Deccan region.
