Indian Railways has launched a new Vande Bharat Express between Agra and Varanasi via Prayagraj, connecting two popular tourist destinations in Uttar Pradesh.

The semi-high-speed train covers 573 km in about 7 hours, with stops at Tundla, Etawah, Kanpur, and Prayagraj.
The service operates six days a week, excluding Fridays for maintenance.

From Agra to Varanasi, the train departs at 6:00 AM and arrives at 1:00 PM, whilst the return journey leaves Varanasi at 3:20 PM and reaches Agra at 10:20 PM.

This Vande Bharat Express is the first of its kind for the Agra Railway Division, with all loco pilots and train managers being locals from Agra.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has unveiled a prototype of the Vande Bharat sleeper coach, which will undergo rigorous testing before passenger operations begin.
The new sleeper coach is expected to be open for passenger service within the next three months.

Once testing is complete, production of Vande Bharat sleeper cars will ramp up to two to three trains per month.
