Three of the eight RRTS corridors that have been identified for development in the NCR have been given priority for implementation in Phase I.
With a construction cost of about Rs 30,000 crore, the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS will link Delhi and Meerut in under an hour.
RRTS is built to deliver high-speed trains for interstate travel every 15 minutes, or every 5 minutes, depending on demand. Its design speed is 180 mph.
This new transit system is renamed to Namo Bharat train. It will cover Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Duhai Depot, Duhai and Guldar.
The foundation stone of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor was laid in 2019 by PM Modi.
In the national capital region, Namo Bharat is the greenest mode of transport that runs of electric traction.
Launching the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India, PM Modi flagged off the Namo Bharat RapidX train that runs from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot.
PM Modi also travelled on this train with some enthusiastic youngsters and interacted with them.
