Bathukamma is a colourdul flower-festival celebrated by women in Telangana and also some places in Andhra Pradesh.
The festival every year begins on Pitru/ Mahalaya Amavasya and lasts for nine days.
The meaning of "Bathukamma" in Telugu is " Mother Goddess came alive!". Hence it is also known as "Festival of life".
It marks the celebration of feminity in these southern regions. Hence girls and women in Telangana dress up in their traditional half-sarees and sarees.
Brothers bring flowers to their sisters & mothers. They arrange these seasonal flowers in 7 layers like gopuram.
