PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar today.
Before the inauguration, the PM visited the ruins of the ancient university that is about 20 km from the new campus.

Under the Nalanda University Act of 2010, about 455 acres of land were provided to build this new institution.
As per reports, this campus has been built at a whopping cost of ₹1,700 crore.
The campus has two academic buildings with 40 classrooms that have a seating capacity of 1,900 people. The university also has two 300-seat auditoriums, a hostel for around 550 students, an amphitheatre, and a sports complex.
The campus buildings are self-sustaining and have their own solar plants, domestic and drinking water treatment plants, and a water recycling plant for reusing wastewater.

The new Nalanda University campus has 100 acres of water bodies among other environment-friendly facilities.
Over the years, 17 countries have signed MoUs to support Nalanda University and about 137 scholarships will be awarded to international students at the university.
As per reports, the university will have 6 schools - School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy & Comparative Religions, Historical Studies, Ecology and Environmental Studies, and Sustainable Development and Management.
