On the first day of the G20 Summit, Chef Anahita Dhondy, Chef Kunal Kapur, and Chef Ajay Chopra cooked delectable delicacies for the First Ladies, the spouses of the leaders.

The lunch for the First Ladies on 9 September was all about millet-based dishes. The chefs showcased millets to the world.

Millet is a staple choice of lakhs of Indian citizens. At this global event, the chefs served the humble ingredient to the world and showcased its brilliance. It is a significant step to promote millets.

For the First Ladies, Chef Anahita Dhondy cooked Raw Banana Barnyard Millet Tikki with Puffed Amarnath.

Chef Kunal Kapur cooked Jowar Khichda with Mushrooms. For the dessert, Chef Ajay Chopra made Lemon Mille-Feuille.

What Was On The Lunch Menu?

For the khichda, Chef Kunal added a vegetarian twist to the dish usually prepared with meat. To make it a veg delicacy, he used mushrooms instead of any meat. Using jowar, he cooked this delicious dish for the main course. There was some broth and salad as well.

Lemon Mille-Feuille is a healthy innovation of Thekua. Chef Ajay Chopra cooked this delicious dessert using finger millet. A few additions to the dessert are lemon curd, fruits, and some millet khichdi.

Chef Manisha Bhasin and Kusha Mathur showcased a total of 20 dishes from the G-20 nations. Interestingly, all these 20 dishes were prepared with millets.
