Avakaya or Avakai is a raw mango pickle primarily consumed in Telugu-speaking regions of India.

What Is Avakaya?

Avakaya is spicier than regular mango pickles. It also has crushed mustard seeds known as Avapindi which give its flavour depth.

How Is It Different?

You need sundried mustard, fenugreek, red chilli and turmeric powder, raw mangoes, garlic, and oil.

What You Need

Cut the raw mangoes into giant chunks and add the dried powders to the mangoes & mix well.

Add your preferred oil and mix again. Add salt if need be and mix again.

Transfer it to a glass or a ceramic jar and keep it for at least 4 days.
