-2 green chilli -4 small onions (cut in half) -1 large tomato -1/2tsp kashmiri red chilli powder -3/4th tsp spicy red chilli powder -1/4th tsp turmeric -1/2tsp coriander powder -1tsp Sambhar masala/Rasam powder -Salt to taste -Water (4 times) -Coriander leaves

Wash and soak rice and lentils in water. Soak tamarind in warm water.

Heat oil and ghee in a cooker. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, dry red chillies, curry leaves, and black pepper. Let them splutter. Add garlic, green chillies, onions, and tomatoes. Sauté until softened.

Add Kashmiri red chillies, regular red chillies, coriander powder, turmeric, sambar masala, and salt. Mix well.

Add soaked lentils and rice to the cooker. Pour in 4 times the water used for soaking lentils and rice. Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.

Strain tamarind water and add it to the cooked rice and lentil mixture.

Stir in fresh chopped green coriander. Serve hot.
