Pleasant weather, gentle breeze, and soothing temperature make the rainy season special. Though we love dancing in the rain, it is important to be extra careful of our health during this time. Also, we need to focus more on following a healthy diet and keeping food items safe during monsoon.

Food contamination is a common problem of this season. To prevent this risk, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) shared a set of food safety tips.

The first and most important step is to wash your hands thoroughly before touching any food item. Use soap or handwash to clean your hands. Follow this after you are done washing, cooking, or eating.

1. Wash Hands

Wash every fruit and vegetable under running water and remove dirt using your fingers. If needed, make a solution of vinegar and water and remove all dirt and mud from them. Be extra cautious while cleaning leafy vegetables. 

2. Wash Properly

Store dishes inside a refrigerator if you are cooking food in the morning to eat later for lunch and dinner. If you are not eating them within two hours, it is better to store them inside a fridge, according to a report by The Times of India.

3. Refrigerate

Do not consume undercooked food in the monsoon season. Ensure eating meals by cooking ingredients at the necessary temperatures.

4. Cook Well

Try avoiding direct tap water for cooking. Replace it with boiled water or purified water.

5. Tap Water Is No-No
