Traditionally, the fruits and flowers were soaked in honeyed water or berry juice to make hwachae. However, these days, carbonated drinks and fruit juices have replaced the traditional choice of drinks.

Subak Hwachae

One of the most popular hwachae flavours in South Korea is watermelon. Also known as Subak Hwachae, this drink is perfect for hot days.

Watermelon Store-bought fruit cocktail Sprite Milk Ice

Subak Hwachae Recipe

1. Cut the watermelon in half and scoop out all of the flesh into bite-size pieces. 2. Then, place the watermelon pieces and its juice in a big bowl.

Follow These Steps 

3. Next, add the fruit cocktail along with some of the syrup from the pack. 4. Add some ice and stir it to combine.

5. Finally, add some Sprite and milk, and give it all a good mix.
