1. Yellow toor dal - 1 cup 2. Onion - 1 medium, chopped 3. Tomato - 1 medium, chopped 4. Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon 5. Oil - 2 tablespoons 6. Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon 7. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon 8. Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon 9. Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon 10. Salt to taste 11. Fresh coriander for garnish 12. Water - 3 cups

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them splutter

Add chopped onions, ginger, garlic and sauté until golden brown

Mix in chopped tomatoes, turmeric, red chilli powder and salt

Add pre-soaked and drained yellow toor dal, pour in 3 cups water

Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or simmer covered for 25 minutes until dal is soft

Mash lightly with a spoon and add garam masala
