Our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani is in Arunachal Pradesh and she spent a day with the Meyor Tribe there.
Nestled about 10 km from Tibet, she visited the first village from the Easternmost tip of India, Kaho in Kibithu.
Home to 17 families of the Meyor tribe, the total population of this village is just 75.
Beyond this village, no civilians are allowed. This means it is one of the last untouched places in India and also an absolute delight for nature lovers.
While she was there, Kamiya interacted with the people of Meyor Tribe and even spent a day dancing away with them.
She took part in their traditional dance, which is passed down through generations in this tribe. The dance reflects people’s deep connection to nature and their rich cultural heritage.
According to the locals, each step of this traditional dance carries a symbolic meaning and is tied to the tribe’s belief in the sun and moon. They usually perform these dances on special occasions and festivals.
Nestled close to the Indo-China border, Kibithu is a remote area and still has no phone network!
As per Kamiya’s experience, despite being so remote, the warmth and simplicity of the people here are bound to touch your heart!
