According to the Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), about 75% of the work of the first phase of the international airport in Jewar, UP is complete.

NIAL has said that they will begin trial runs at the airport by the end of June, if all things go well.

They also mentioned that the airport will witness the full functioning of two state-of-the-art radars in July. They will allow 50 flights a day in the first phase.

Located in Uttar Pradesh’s Jewar area, the Noida International Airport is said to be the largest airport in Asia.

The state government has allocated a massive budget of ₹10,056 crore for this airport. As per reports, the NIAL has spent ₹7371.51 crore on the greenfield airport so far.

In its report, the NIAL has mentioned that all the flight-related equipment on the runway and air traffic control tower will be installed in April 2024 as most civil work is complete.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority and NIAL will also come together to construct a metro line to connect the airport to Delhi-NCR in the upcoming phases.

Besides the metro, the authorities plan to enhance road connectivity with a pod taxi system and a rapid rail corridor.

As per NIAL’s plan, the airport will be able to accommodate 1.2 crore passengers every year once it becomes fully operational.
