Both kimbap and sushi are two of the most popular and adored dishes around the globe. While Kimbap is a popular dish from South Korea, sushi is from Japan. But while they may look similar, they’re definitely different!

The main difference between the two dishes is that – sushi is a Japanese rice roll which is seasoned with vinegar and kimbap comprises a rice roll mixed with sesame oil. Moreover, the latter is comparatively sweeter than sushi!

Another basic difference between the two is that sushi uses raw fish, seafood, or vegetables. While kimbap doesn’t have raw fish but uses meats like grilled bulgogi, cheese, kimchi, ham, and eggs.

Having talked about some of the basic differences between the two highly popular dishes, they do share some similarities as well.

One of them is rice – both of these dishes use short-grained rice, which we generally call sticky rice.

Another obvious similarity is the use of nori sheets. This is dried edible seaweed that is used to wrap up the rice and fillings together.
