PM Narendra Modi is on a two-day state visit to Bhutan. He was welcomed at the airport by Bhutan PM Dasho Tshering Tobgay.
PM Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his gratitude to Bhutan’s PM for his warm welcome and even shared pictures and videos of the same.
Besides PM Dasho Tshering Tobgay, many locals and children were also present during PM Modi’s welcoming ceremony and he interacted with them.
The PM posted about the interaction on X. He wrote, “I am grateful to the people of Bhutan, especially the young children, for the memorable welcome to their beautiful country.”
PM Modi’s visit is aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
To strengthen the “scope and depth of the cooperation and friendship” between India and Bhutan, both countries exchanged 9 memoranda of understanding.
After the MoU signing, the PM visited the Tashichhodzong Palace in Thimphu. He was welcomed in a traditional Bhutanese way to the palace.
PM Modi met His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck at the palace. The two talked about the bilateral relations of the two countries.
PM Modi received Bhutan’s highest civilian honour - Order of the Druk Gyalpo - and he dedicated it to 140 crore Indians.
