Recipe: Here's How To Whip Up A Quick Moroccan Orange Cake, Meskouta

Meskouta

It's an  delightful Moroccan dessert which can be enjoyed during tea time cake. 

Oranges, eggs, sugar, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt and powdered sugar.

Ingredients 

Wash and place the oranges in a saucepan with water. Boil reduce the heat and let it simmer for 2 hours and let it soften.

Step 1

Pre-heat and grease and flour a cake pan.

Step 2

Cut the cooled oranges into quarters, remove any seeds, and place them in a blender or food processor (including the peel). Blend until you have a smooth orange puree.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together until the mixture becomes pale and slightly thickened. Add the vegetable oil and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt and add wet mixture.

Step 5

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 6

Once the cake has cooled, dust it with powdered sugar for a delightful finish.
