You must have seen gym freaks downing raw eggs to maintain muscle mass.
It is also commonly said that raw eggs are healthier than cooked ones.
Is that really true? We’re here to spill the deets.
Raw eggs are packed with nutrients like protein, vitamins, minerals, good fats, and antioxidants. The yolk contains the most important nutrients.
However, it is likely that our body does not absorb protein from raw eggs as well as it does from cooked eggs.
Raw eggs might also hinder the absorption of biotin, a type of Vitamin B.
The likelihood of raw eggs getting infected with bacteria is higher as well.
You run a higher risk of contracting salmonella, which is especially dangerous to children, pregnant people and older folks.
However, buying pasteurised eggs and/or refrigerating them can reduce the risk of salmonella.
