Shriya Pilgaonkar Makes Ukdiche Modak With Her Family, A Ganesh Chaturthi Ritual| Curly Tales

 It’s Modak Time!

Ganeshotsav is all about coming together with your family and friends, welcoming Bappa home, and of course, gobbling down modaks!

Ganeshotsav Means Modak!

And actress Shriya Pilgaonkar is no different.

Coming Together For Bappa

She took to Instagram to share the sweet ritual of her family coming together to make Ukdiche Modak during this festival.

Sweet Ritual

In the video, you can see the entire family sitting together to make the delicacy.

Family That Makes Modak Together, Stays Together

Right from cooking the filling to steaming them, Shriya showed how they made modaks together.

Doing Things The Traditional Way!

It is interesting to see how the family uses no mould but hands to shape the modaks perfectly – years of practice right there!

Why Are They Called Modaks?

Shriya also shared that in Sanskrit, modak means ‘anand’ or ‘pure happiness’.

Shriya’s Logic

She then says, “So, I am assuming that this modak means 'jo anand deta hai' (one that gives you the purest joy). And it is true because I love this.”
