South Indian Recipes: Here’s How You Can Make Tomato Chutney At Home

South Indian tangy chutney

Tomato chutney is loved by every South Indian, for sure. It is tangy, can get spicy if you want and is simply amazing.  

INGREDIENTS

Oil 1tbsp Urad dal 1tbsp Chana Dal 1 teaspoon methi seeds 2-3 Dried red chillies

INGREDIENTS

2 cloves garlic 2 medium sized tomatoes 1/2 tsp turmeric Curry Leaves

INGREDIENTS

1/2 tsp sugar Salt Mustard seeds Hing

PROCEDURE

1. Take a pan, add oil, urad dal, chana dal and methi seeds.  2. Roast for a minute and then add dry red chillies. Fry until golden brown.

3. Now add garlic, tomatoes and fry until the tomatoes shrink completely.  4. Now add salt, turmeric and sugar. 

PROCEDURE

5. Now cool this mixture down and grind it in a mixer grinder to form a smooth paste. 

PROCEDURE

6. Now take oil in a pan add mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves. After the leaves splatter, add this tempering into the chutney. 

Serve!
