In a US city suburb in Maryland, the tallest statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar outside of India was formally unveiled.
Ram Sutar, a renowned artist and sculptor who previously created the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, created the statue.
The statue is 19-feet tall and is named as ”Statue of Equality”.
More than 500 Indian-Americans from different countries attended this occasion while "Jai Bhim" was chanted.
Heavy rain did not deter the energy of the participants who had come from far off places for the event.
The unveiling of the statue was followed by some beautiful cultural performances.
Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar (Babasaheb), who was born on April 14, 1891, served as the chairman of the Constituent Assembly's most important Drafting Committee.
He was known as the "Architect of the Indian Constitution" for his contributions.
