Chef Aruna Vijay shared the recipe for Cucumber Tambli, the South Indian version of dahi tadka, which is quite popular in Karnataka.
1 chopped cucumber ¼ tsp pepper ½ tsp jeera ½ tsp sesame seeds 2 Green chilli 3 Garlic ⅓ cup coconut Handful of coriander Salt 1.5 cup water 1 cup curd For tempering 1 tsp oil 2-3 dry red chillies ½ tsp mustard ½ tsp jeera 7-8 Curry leaves
1. Add the chopped cucumber to a blender jar, along with pepper, jeera, sesame seeds, chillies, and garlic.
2. Next, add coconut, coriander, and salt. 3. Grind it all into a smooth paste by adding a little water.
4. Take curd in a big bowl and add some water to it.
5. Now, add the cucumber paste, and salt, and mix everything together to make a thick buttermilk.
6. Make a tempering with all the aforementioned ingredients.
7. Pour the tempering over the prepared mixture. 8. Enjoy it with hot rice.
