What Is Dadpe Poha, A Konkan Version Of The Regular Poha? Here's How To Make It

What Is Dadpe Poha? 

Dadpe Poha is a Maharashtrian delicacy from the Konkan region where dadpe means "weighing down". Thin poha is flattened to let out the juices and make it taste good. Also, it has coconut.

Ingredients 

- 1.5 cups of thin poha (flattened rice) - 1/4 cup of coconut water or regular water - 1 medium onion, finely chopped - 1/4 cup of grated fresh or frozen coconut - 1 tsp of salt - 1 tsp of sugar - Juice of half a lemon - 1/4 cup of coriander leaves, chopped - 1-2 tbsp of oil - Pinch of hing (asafoetida) - 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds - 1/4 cup of peanuts - 2-3 green chilies, sliced - Few curry leaves

Step 1 

First, sprinkle normal water or regular water on the poha and let it soak for a bit.

In another bowl, add chopped onions, grated coconut, salt, lemon juice, sugar and coriander leaves and mix it well.

Step 2

Add the soaked flattened poha in the onion mixture and give it a good mix.

Step 3

Make a tadka of peanuts, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chillies, curry leaves and hing.

Step 4

Mix the tadka with the poha and your Dadpe Poha is ready!
