When Was It Built?

The fort was built in 1713-1720 CE by Balaji Vishwanath, the first Peshwa.

Bigger Than Lohagad

British Rule

In 1818, the British seized control of Lohagad-Visapur and placed Colonel Prother in charge of it.

British Iron Gun

An iron gun with a four-inch bore and 10 feet of length was discovered in 1885 close to the north wall. It was emblazoned with the Tudor Rose and Crown.
