Who Are Eligible To Travel To The Schengen Area?

  • Citizens of the Schengen-country
  • Holders of a residence permit issued by a Schengen country
  • EU/EEA citizens
  • Non-EU individuals from eligible countries who are not required to obtain a Schengen visa for travel of 90 days or less
  • Non-EU individuals with a valid Schengen visa

How Do You Apply For The Schengen Visa?

It is best to apply for the visa 6 months prior to your date of travelling or not later than 3 to 4 weeks. You have to fill out an application form and book an appointment at the consulate, embassy, or visa application centre. The minimum processing time takes around 15 days.

Documents Required Are:

  • Signed visa application form
  • Two recent passport-size pictures
  • A valid passport
  • Trip itinerary, including dates, flight details, hotel bookings, or accommodation proof
  • Proof of travel and medical insurance

The Application Fee

You would be required to pay a non-refundable compulsory visa fee. The cost of the fee depends on the age and the type of visa you are applying for. The fee is payable at the consulate or assigned embassy either by cash, credit card, or debit card. Children younger than 6 years of age don’t have to pay any application fee if the child is a holder of diplomatic, official, service passports travelling for official purposes or a family members of an EU or EEA national.

  • Adult: EUR 80 that is INR 6,504
  • Child: EUR 40 that is INR 3,251
