Doesn’t it feel comforting to lie on a couch, scroll on mobile screens, place orders for our favourite food, and get everything delivered to our doorstep at the earliest? Yes, we end up splurging a lot on online orders but we surely enjoy placing orders and waiting for deliveries. Recently, the CEO of a Bengaluru-based company shared his experience of ordering from Swiggy and Zomato and why he has stopped using these platforms lately.

Here’s Why Capitalmind CEO Stoped Ordering Often From Swiggy And Zomato

Deepak Shenoy is the CEO of Bengaluru-based company Capitalmind and he revealed reasons behind reducing ordering from these online food delivery platforms.

Deepak Shenoy posted on X how he has decreased the number of online orders on platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato. While he preferred using these apps quite regularly in the past to buy dishes from different places, his pattern of using them has now changed. “Massively reduced ordering from Swiggy/Zomato”, shared Capitalmind CEO.

He revealed that he orders probably once a week presently, maybe on a weekend. Deepak Shenoy was using one of these platforms on Saturday and this was when he realised that the platform charge cost him ₹6. While talking about his decision to order less from Swiggy and Zomato, he specified the platform charge too. He is happy to make this change and stop ordering online regularly.

All online platforms associated with delivering products and orders to our doorsteps take a specific percentage from restaurants, stores, and similar places. The Capitalmind CEO concluded his X post by pointing out that Swiggy and Zomato take a charge of 30 per cent from restaurants.

Shantanu Goel (@shantanugoel) responded to Mr. Shenoy’s post and revealed that online food delivery platforms do not only take 30 per cent for orders but also charge additional costs for advertisements and promotions.
