There are different private travel firms and tour operators that often launch exclusive memberships for customers to enjoy benefits and great experiences while travelling. Some opposite parties asked a customer to get a similar membership for a specific amount and in return, they would get hotel stays for a definite time period. Well, things did not go accordingly and now the concerned people need to pay a cost.

Rinkesh Gupta made a complaint against the travel operator as they failed to provide proper services for an already planned trip, according to a report by The Times of India. The customer complained after the opposite parties did not follow the criteria that they mentioned. A firm named Club Destinasia needs to pay an amount of ₹10,000 as it could not book a hotel for the complainant.

Previously, Rinkesh bought a membership from the opposite parties. These people stated that customers with the membership can stay in the listed hotels two times a year. Not just this, even their family can tag along and enjoy the benefits of staying in the hotels. The membership comes with a validity period of a decade. The complainant was promised different benefits but the plans did not go accordingly.

Rinkesh shared how he got the membership a few years back and did not get any response from the travel firm before. It was back in December 2021 when he planned to go on a holiday with his family and use the rewards of his membership. Unfortunately, he did not get any assistance from the firm. Every time he planned a trip and contacted the club for hotels, they did not help him with any such services or provide a stay in the listed hotels.

Rinkesh contacted the operator and served a legal notice but nothing really was working in his favour. He later complained about the firm, mentioned the membership, stated the flaws of specified services, and also shared how there was no response from the other end. The complainant understood the fact that the travel company robbed him of an expensive amount of ₹50,000 and cheated him.

Though Rinkesh served a legal notice mentioning to return the membership cost, there was not a single reply. The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission found the names behind this customer as misleading. They had enough proof to find that the travel firm and opposite parties made false claims. The commission ordered Club Destinasia and the opposite parties to pay costs as they did not provide the specified facilities and did not book any room or hotel for Rinkesh. Club Destinasia needs to pay ₹10,000 to the man who made the complaint.

On the other hand, the opposite parties need to make a refund of ₹50,000. They need to return the membership cost within a period of 30 days. If they fail to do the necessary, they need to pay it with an interest of 8 per cent annually starting from the time of the order to pay the amount.
