Tuesday morning began with terrible news. The Howrah-Mumbai Express derailed in Jharkhand. It marks yet another deadly train accident reported in India in the recent few weeks. The unfortunate accident occurred at about 3:45 AM on July 30 near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand. The devastating incident killed passengers on board and many people sustained severe injuries as well.
Howrah-Mumbai Express Collided With A Goods Train
Netizens have shared heartwrenching pictures and videos of the terrifying train derailing incident. Here are some clips of the disastrous accident.
According to social media posts and multiple reports, a total of 18 coaches of the Mumbai-bound express derailed on Tuesday early morning. The incident was reported in Bara Bambu village where the Howrah-CSMT Express collided with a goods train. These affected 18 train coaches went off the tracks and caused a life-threatening incident at the derailment spot.
While sharing crucial information about the train accident, an official stated that 16 of the 18 derailed coaches were passenger coaches. One was a pantry car and another was a power car. Unfortunately, at least two passengers travelling to Mumbai lost their lives in this devastating train derailment. About 20 people have suffered injuries.
The medical teams of the Railway department provided basic first aid to the injured ones, who were later shifted to Chakradharpur for proper treatment. Following the disastrous collision, rescue teams, ambulances, and concerned departments rushed to the location. The strenuous rescue operation is still ongoing to save the lives of passengers onboard the train.

Trains Have Been Cancelled
Following the train accident, a total of five trains were cancelled on July 30, South Eastern Railways shared in an official statement. The cancelled trains are:
- 22861 Howrah-Titlagarh-Kantabanji Express
- 08015/18019 Kharagpur-Jhargram-Dhanbad Express
- 12021/12022 Howrah-Barbil-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express
- 18109 Tatanagar-Itwari Express
- 18030 Shalimar-LTT Express
Four trains will be short-terminated:
- 18114 Bilaspur-Tatanagar Express
- 18190 Ernakulam-Tatanagar Express
- 18011 Howrah-Chakradharpur Express
- 18110 Itwari-Tatanagar Express
