The popular tourist attraction ‘Double Arch’ has always been a favourite of globetrotters. Exploring southern Utah is just incomplete without exploring this scenic geological phenomenon, learning about its unique formations, and of course, clicking loads of pictures in every corner of the natural rock formation in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

According to information provided by the National Park Service, Double Arch collapsed last week. This alluring destination is often thronged by visitors from different parts of the world. Adventure enthusiasts too travel here for thrilling hiking experiences. Though globetrotters are disappointed hearing the news of its collapse, the good news is that the incident did not cause any injuries.

The recent news highlighting the collapse of such a significant natural landmark in Utah raises concerns and questions among many. What could lead to such horrific episodes? Double Arch is a huge formation and only something major can trigger its collapse. The National Park Service mentioned the chances of water levels in Lake Powell shifting and harming the natural structure. According to a report by The Times of India-India Times, erosion from wave action might be another reason contributing to the recent incident.

Over the past many decades, Double Arch has made it to many travel enthusiasts’ bucket lists. Visitors love and wish to travel here to check out the distinctive features that we have only seen on the Internet. The unique shapes, muddy colours, natural formations and features, and overlooking panoramic views often entice travellers to plan a holiday here.
