Dosa has frequently been the focus of odd experiments by street food vendors and food vloggers. In a similar vein, we frequently encounter odd variations of ice cream and treats made with ice cream. A video that is currently gaining a lot of attention online appears to combine dosa and ice cream. Internet users are unsure about its true nature.

Instagram user @mumbaikarfoodie__ posted the reel. A street food vendor is shown pouring dosa batter on a tawa. However, take note that at no point in the video do we get to see what goes into manufacturing the batter. The seller smooths and scrapes the batter’s surface.

Then he adds some chocolate sauce and evenly distributes it. He then neatly shapes the now-crisp creation into a cone. He tops it with more chocolate sauce and adds chocolate shavings, and vanilla ice cream to the inside. In the video, there is text that states, “Justice for Dosa.”

Different Instagram users have responded to this unusual treat in various ways. Many don’t seem to know what to call it, especially since the batter’s precise contents are unclear. Some have argued that it should be referred to as a pancake rather than a dosa.

A user stated that there’s no problem with the dish if people stop calling it a dosa and it’s totally fine. Another user agreed to this stating that the dish tastes good and has a resemblance to a waffle. In fact, this dish shouldn’t be called dosa but something else.

However, other people do not agree with this and have been nauseated by the concept of a chocolate and ice cream dosa. They have been demanding justice for their beloved South Indian breakfast dish and praying for its soul.
