As revealed by the Department Of Municipalities and Transport, Abu Dhabi residents can soon look forward to a significantly reduced travel time. Since the cut will be up to 80 per cent, this will happen following the opening of two new bridges. Announced on Saturday, these bridges will improve the traffic flow on key routes. Yes, these will be on routes that connect Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street and Shakhbout Bin Sultan Street leading up to Musaffah.

It is worth mentioning that the new bridges will benefit a wide range of commuters. The beneficiaries particularly include those who are travelling to Central Abu Dhabi, Musaffah, Hudayriyat Island, and Zayed International Airport. For the unversed, this is an AED315 million project, which features a three-lane flyover bridge.

This Is An AED315 Million Project
Coming up on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, there’s another two-lane bridge that will be connecting Shakhbout Bin Sultan Street to the same road. The new bridges will feature five lanes, 61 Street lights and a length of 742 metres. As a result, it will cover an area of 10,242 m² with ramps extending 990 m. Supported by 12 piers, 46,000 m² of street landscaping was also upgraded.
It’s worth mentioning that this development also includes new pedestrian and cycle paths. There will also be improved service roads and sustainable landscaping. Accommodating up to 7500 vehicles per hour, it is bound to ease traffic.
