It feels surreal to explore scenic waterfalls, especially during the ongoing monsoon season. Nature in its greenest form adds a glorious charm to one’s travel experiences. However, it does not take a minute to turn this blissful experience into a horrifying memory for many. Recently, a 26-year-old man drowned in the Abbi Falls in Hosanagara taluk in Coorg. The news stirred concern among many visitors and adventure enthusiasts.
Man Washed Away In Abbi Falls While Swimming
An unfortunate accident was reported at the famous Abbi Falls in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district on Sunday. The 26-year-old visitor slipped and drowned in the water while he was swimming. Identified as Vinod Kumar, he was a software engineer and lived in Ballari. He was from Basavanagudi in Bengaluru, according to a report by Udayavani.
Vinod travelled to Abbi Falls with his friends to enjoy a leisurely getaway. The untimely incident occurred all of a sudden in front of his group of friends at the spot. This region received heavy downpours this year like several other parts of Karnataka. Seeing the waterfall in its enchanting glory, the man and his friends went to swim in the pristine water.
Their enthusiasm to swim and feel rejuvenated in the cold water soon turned into dismay after Vinod slipped, lost control, and was washed away in the flowing water by the strong currents. Following the accident, his friends informed the Thirthahalli police. According to a report by Asianet Newsable, the police and fire brigade team conducted a search operation to find Vinod.
