A massive fire broke out in three stationary air-conditioned coaches of the Korba-Visakhapatnam Express at the Visakhapatnam Railway Station on August 4. The incident happened at 9:20 AM on Sunday. Fire Breaks Out In Korba-Visakhapatnam Express At Vizag Station

As soon as the Korba – Visakhapatnam express arrived at Visakhapatnam railway station today morning, three AC coaches gutted by fire.

On Sunday morning, three air-conditioned coaches of the Korba-Visakhapatnam Express caught fire. The train arrived at the Visakhapatnam Railway Station at 6:30 AM and was scheduled for maintenance to the coaching depot before departing for Tirupati. According to an NDTV report, the train was locked and power was shut down.
However, around 9:20, a Railway Protection Force personnel noticed smoke in the B7 coach. He immediately alerted the authorities and fire services. Thankfully all the passengers had deboarded the train after its arrival, so the coaches were empty. Reportedly, the fire quickly spread to adjoining coaches. Coach B7 was completely gutted while coaches B6 and M1 were partially damaged.

Videos and photos circulating on X (formerly Twitter) show firefighters and police officials trying to douse the massive fire. The fire had been successfully put out after a lot of effort and barring the damaged coaches, the train was shifted to the depot for maintenance. It took several hours for the fire to be completely doused at the Vizag Station. The fire outbreak also caused panic among the passengers at the station.

As per officials, the cause of the fire outbreak in Korba-Visakhapatnam Express is still unknown. They have launched a probe to know more about the incident. While talking to NDTV, Joint Commissioner of Police Fakirappa said that there were no casualties in the accident. He further assured that railway officials will be conducting an investigation into this accident. Furthermore, according to Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shankabratha Bagchi, the coaches had combustible material in them. That is why it took some time for the firefighters to completely douse the fire.
