Ever planned a road trip with your loved ones or solo? How many of them proved to be successful for you? Well, a Pakistani man has successfully carried out more than 44 solo journeys in his lifetime to date. Munir Karim has been travelling solo for years now and has travelled to 44 countries by road in his Dubai-registered car. Also, he has covered 100 countries overall in his life. Let’s have a look at his journey.

Initiating The Journey

For Munir Karim, a 68-year-old Dubai resident, embarking on solo travels symbolizes liberty, self-exploration, and a profound connection with diverse global cultures. Karim’s solo travel adventure commenced in 1988, taking him to destinations such as Thailand, Holland, and Canada. Expanding his explorations to five countries in 1989 marked the beginning of a journey that has now covered an impressive 86 countries and involved over 300 flights.

Collecting Mementos From Around The Globe

Over 35 years of solo travel, Karim accumulated mementoes from each city he visited, creating a tangible representation of his global exploits. His dependable Suzuki Jimny, boasting 195,000 kilometres, has been a constant companion on this extraordinary journey.

Journey To Freedom Through Solo Travel

Currently managing his own business and a former Dubai Defence employee, Karim’s solo escapades span 44 countries, fuelled by his trusty companion, the Suzuki Jimny. Karim’s Suzuki Jimny is not merely a vehicle; it’s a compact sanctuary equipped with a bed, kitchen, toilet, and all the essentials for a comfortable journey. Its modest size allows Karim to rest anywhere, with over 31 nights spent in the car during his travels.

While content with his compact companion, Karim aspired to embark on an extended journey through Russia, Mongolia, China, South Korea, and beyond. In 2017, he acquired a pickup, transforming it into a fully-equipped caravan for his next adventure.

Aspiring To Caravan Exploration

Despite facing visa constraints during his journey to Moscow and dealing with transit visa limitations, Karim navigated the challenges and covered 12,000 kilometres in approximately nine days. Remarkably, all his solo journeys, including a 6,000-kilometre pilgrimage, were accomplished within a decade.

Munir Karim’s solo journey isn’t just about traversing distances; it’s a celebration of freedom, cultural exploration, and the continuous pursuit of self-discovery. Each adventure adds a chapter to his remarkable tale of solo travel.
