5 Hiking Trails In The UAE That Every Hiker Must Check Out

We all need some fresh air every now and then. However, at a time like this, it is necessary to avoid crowded places. So what better way to breathe in fresh air, and pump that adrenaline, than by taking a rejuvenating hike in the mountains! Spring time means we have great weather, not too hot and not too cold. The perfect, and clement weather, means we can enjoy long walks and trails amidst the beautiful mountains. Fortunately, we live in a country that is home to many valleys, wadi’s, and mountainous areas. Below, we’ve set up a short list with some of the best hiking trails in the UAE!

1. Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah

This hiking trail at Jebel Jais, is a 4 km track that has unrivalled views. The mountain is at a height of 1,300 metres, and once you’re at the peak, you can find a beautiful 180 degrees view of the entire mountain. The trip takes about 2/3 hours to complete and the difficulty level is low. It takes approximately 2 hours to get there.

2. Hajar Hiking Trail, Fujairah

This trail in Dibba is at a picturesque valley, and is home to a beautiful 5 km hike. The level of difficulty is slightly tough, however, the end destination is worth the wait. The route is steep, and is a challenging climb along a twisted trail that starts at the valley floor, and ends at the top of the mountain. As you walk up the trail, you’ll pass by small villages, and old houses. The glistening lake at the bottom of the valley reflects the sun, giving way to a resplendent view.

3. Wadi Monay, Ras Al Khaimah

This trail is for beginners, and consists of a 1.5 km hiking route. The hike is approximately 3-4 hours and takes people across remnants of ancient societies, and breathtaking views. The hike is also great for kids, and has intriguing plants, rocks, and animals on the way. Also It’s just a 1 and a half hour drive away from Dubai.

 

4. Hatta Hike

This trail spans across the UAE, and Oman border. It has many tourist spots on the way, such as valleys, gorges, small cities and more. The complete trail takes about 4-6 hours, and is a total of 10 km. Make sure you stock up on water bottles, energy bars, and other snacks. It is crucial to stay hydrated at all times. There are also plenty farms scattered along the way.

 

5. Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain

This is the third highest hike in the UAE, and offers gorgeous views from the top. Once again, this is for more experienced hikers, and offers you an amazing and  challenging climb to the top. It is located only 80 km away from Dubai, and is a nice, scenic drive. Its best to go during sunrise or sunset, and experience amazing views from the top!
